On 15th Feb every year,all the schools in Singapore will commemorate Total Defence Day. I think it is relevant to commemorate Total Defence Day. The reason is because we,as a student, would know what is Total Defence Day about. Total Defence consist of Military Defence,Civil Defence,Economic Defence,Social Defence and Psychological Defence. Each of us have a part to play in Total Defence.As students, we are in the group: Economic Defence, where we have to upgrade our skills and knowledge which would help us to stay relevant and employable in this rapidly changing world. Our ability to embrace lifelong learning and re-training is vital to keep our economy competitive. The army and navy would take care of the Military Defence.
People who works for the govenment like teachers are consider as Civil Defence. Social Defence are taken care by all of us,where at the different races come together and live in harmony. How can the commemoration of Total Defence day can be meaningful and engaging for the students? Schools can organise activities for students related to Total Defence.They can also organise talks for students. School canteens can also sell food which are related to Total Defence Day. For example sweet potato and biscuits.These can probably help to let students feel what was the world like in the past,and how poor they are to afford nice food such as fish,chicken.

Was the treaty of Versailles fair?Why? [refer to textbk for aims,terms and impact]
I feel that the treaty of Versailles is unfair.The reason is because the punishmentis too harsh for the German.Some of the punishment were: German was being made to accept the full blame of the war and the Germany had to pay repairations to the Allied powers. The Germans was also needed to pay a huge sum of money,resulting in Germany becoming poor.For military,the Germans have their army restricting to 100 000 men and conscription was not allowed and their navy was also restricted to 15 000 men with ONLY 6 battleships and some smaller ships,but were not allow to have submarines,tanks or planes. Territorial was also in the treaty of Versailles where Germany had to return some lands.The aim of this treaty was actually to reduce the size of Germany,making them poor by making them to compensate the war. Thus,i do not think that the treaty of versailles is not fair.

Is History and the study of it necessary?
Yes!!! Studying History is necessary.By studying History,it enables us to learn more about our past,understanding our society and learn mistakes from the past. By learning more about past,it helps us to understand more what our ancestors did,how their lives were in the past and many more. For example: we can learn why our ancestors have come so far to Singapore to find job...We can also learn from the mistakes our ancestors made and thus,do not follow in their footsteps,if not,History is going to repeat themselves. Thus,i strongly agree that History and the study of it is necessary!!!
